What can you expect from our blog?

Real-life Stories: We feel that real-life experiences provide the most fascinating stories. We will offer intriguing anecdotes and firsthand accounts of the hard and amazing times we encounter on the job on our blog. From violent emergency circumstances to sweet acts of generosity, these stories will provide insight into the emotional rollercoaster that we face as EMTs and firemen.

Sometimes the stories are funny, like when our sister squad in St. Paul got a call for a boudoir photography session that went bad with a candle. Luckily, no one was hurt and there was minimal damage, but it definitely made our “things not to do” wall of shame, and our client realized exactly how flammable lace can be.  We like to share and educate, so we can prevent fires from happening in the future.

Insights into Training: Being an EMT/Firefighter needs significant training as well as ongoing education. We’ll take you behind the scenes, sharing our training experiences, emphasizing the skills we learn, and addressing the most recent approaches and technology that propel our industry forward. Our goal is to equip you with a greater grasp of the information and experience required to save lives, from CPR techniques to advanced life support operations.

Community Involvement: Our mission extends far beyond emergency response. We actively connect with the community by conducting safety drills, providing public education, and engaging in health and well-being events. We will keep you updated on our community involvement efforts through our blog, giving you the opportunity to join us in making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.

Safety Tips and Advice: When it comes to disaster preparedness, we believe that information is power. We will publish useful safety ideas, guidance, and best practices on our blog to help you protect yourself, your loved ones, and your property. We aim to empower you to be proactive in protecting the safety and well-being of your community, from fire prevention measures to basic first aid skills.

Q&A and Interactive Sessions: We appreciate your interest and inquiry. Regular Q&A sessions will be held on our site, where you can submit your burning questions about the life of an EMT/Firefighter, emergency response skills, or any other related issues. We will do our best to respond to your questions in an informative and insightful manner.

Recently, we brought our dog board and training expert, Adrienne, on last week to answer questions on how you can train a dog to help assist in finding people in fires.  We also talked about how desensitization is a key skill every service dog needs to have that will be going into action.

Next month we plan on speaking with a general contractor in Richmond, VA who will walk us through some tips to make sure the electrical is done correctly when building a home.  You always want to make sure you have an inspector review each process of the build.  A lot of times people will just have an inspector come in after the home is completed and the electrical is already hidden behind the drywall.  If there is an issue, you want to catch it before the drywall goes up.  This is a simple step you can take to prevent electrical fires down the road.

Join us on this thrilling trip as we bring you unedited, honest stories from the front lines of emergency response. 39 Oxford Rescue Squad is your go-to location whether you are pursuing a career in the profession, want to get a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by first responders, or simply love intriguing narratives.

So buckle up, hold on tight, and prepare to enjoy the adrenaline rush that is life as an EMT/Firefighter in Kansas City.
